Soccer Unveils 2024 Schedule - Arizona State University Athletics

TEMPE – Sun Devil soccer, in conjunction with the Big 12, announced its schedule for the 2024 season on Monday. The 18-game slate includes 12 fixtures at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium and the program’s first Big 12 game at 2023 national semifinalist BYU on September 12.

“It was a particularly difficult year to assemble a schedule with all the changes we faced,” ASU head coach Graham Winkworth said. “I am delighted that we have put together what we think is a quality schedule and we are very excited that we will get to play in front of our own fans so often this year. It will give the students, local soccer fans, friends, family and alumni plenty of chances to watch and engage with the team.”

The 2024 season will mark the debut of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah in the Big 12 while Colorado rejoins the league, expanding the number of teams to 16. The Big 12 soccer lineup will include the four incoming members along with BYU, Baylor, UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia.

The 2024 Big 12 season schedule consists of 11 conference matches, with each team having five or six home and away contests. During the seven weeks of conference play, teams will have three weeks that feature just one league match, while the remaining four weeks will feature two matches for each team.

Before the 11 regular-season Big 12 games, the Sun Devils will play five of their six non-conference games at home. The action begins with three straight at home, including twice during opening weekend against Northern Arizona on August 15 and Wagner on August 22. The home stretch concludes against Little Rock on August 22.

ASU will play its first road contest of the season against LSU in Baton Rouge, La., on August 25. The Sun Devils then return to Tempe for three straight, with visits from Grambling on August 29 and Penn on September 1. Non-conference play concludes with a home bout against Utah Tech on September 8.

Winkworth added, “I love to find a variety of opponents from all over the country. I also look for some teams that have had the opportunity to play in the postseason in recent years. To open up with NAU is exciting. They have grown so much in recent years and played in the NCAA Tournament in 2022. A trip to LSU, which went to the postseason last year, will be a huge challenge…
