Cosme Signs Professional Contract with Stjarnan FC in Iceland


DURHAM – Former Duke women’s soccer standout Caitlin Cosme has signed a professional contract with Stjarnan FC in Iceland. 
 
Stjarnan FC currently plays in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top-tier women’s football league in Iceland. 
 
A 2021 Duke graduate, Cosme played the last two seasons with the Orlando Pride and was a non-roster training camp invitee for the Bay FC expansion team in the preseason. 
 
The No. 10 overall selection in the 2022 NWSL Draft by the Orlando Pride, Cosme missed the majority of the 2022 campaign due to injury.  She made her professional debut on March 26 in the 2023 season opener with the Pride.  Cosme appeared in six matches with Orlando in the 2023 season along with the Challenge Cup. 
 
Cosme is one of 12 Blue Devils that is currently playing professionally – Natasha Anasi (Norway), Toni Payne (Spain), Kayla McCoy (Spain), Mia Gyau (France), Quinn (Seattle Reign), Imani Dorsey (Utah Royals), Ella Stevens (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Tess Boade (Bay FC), Lily Nabet (Angel City FC), Michelle Cooper (Kansas City Current) and Sophie Jones (Chicago Red Stars).
 
Stjarnan FC will open action April 22 against Vikingur Reykjavik.
