VANCOUVER, B.C. – Playing in their fifth road match of the 2024 campaign, the LA Galaxy earned a 3-1 victory on the road over Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Saturday night. Joseph Paintsil scored the game-winning goal, while Riqui Puig registered two assists and Dejan Joveljić scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the road win.

LA Galaxy Road Form On Fire

In five road matches played during the 2024 MLS Regular Season, the LA Galaxy hold a record of 3-1-1 (12 GF, 8 GA). In 17 road matches played during the 2023 MLS Regular Season, LA held a record of 2-9-6 (20 GF, 38 GA). In five games played on the road during the 2024 campaign, Joveljić has recorded four goals and one assist, Paintsil has tallied two goals and two assists and Puig has notched two goals and three assists.

Diego Fagundez Joins 70/70 Club

With his first goal of the 2024 campaign in the win over Vancouver, Diego Fagundez became the 10th player in MLS history to record at least 70 goals and 70 assists in regular-season play. Notably, Fagundez has recorded 70 goals and 73 assists in 366 MLS regular-season matches played (272 starts). Additionally, Fagundez tied Bobby Boswell for 20th all-time amongst all players in MLS history in regular-season games played (366).

Goal-Scoring Plays

LA – Dejan Joveljić, 56th minute: In transition, Riqui Puig delivered a ball out wide to Gabriel Puig, whose curling shot was parried away by Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka. The rebound inside the six-yard box was finished from close range by Dejan Joveljić.

VAN – Brian White (Ryan Gauld), 77th minute: Ryan Gauld’s corner-kick delivery was headed in by Brian White into bottom right corner.

LA – Joseph Paintsil (Riqui Puig), 80th minute: Riqui Puig’s line-breaking pass into the penalty area found Joseph Paintsil, who curled his shot into far corner of the goal.

LA – Diego Fagundez (Joseph Paintsil, Riqui Puig), 82nd minute: Riqui Puig delivered a long pass down the right flank that released Joseph Painstil behind the Vancouver defense. Paintsil’s first-timed, cut-back pass was knocked in by the arriving run of Diego Fagundez inside the middle of the box.
