FC Cincinnati dropped a 2-1 result to CF Montréal Saturday night at Stade Saputo in Quebec.

With the loss, the Orange and Blue moved to 3-2-3 (12 points) through eight matches. Montréal improved to 3-3-1 (10 points). Cincinnati dropped consecutive league matches for the first time since May 2022.

Yuya Kubo scored his third goal of the season in the 58th minute to level the score after the hosts scored right before the halftime whistle. But the equalizer would last four minutes before Ariel Lassiter’s game-winning goal came for Montréal in the 62nd minute.

AS IT HAPPENED

MTL: Josef Martínez, GOAL – 45’+4 (1-0) – In the first half’s waning moments, Raheem Edwards sprung down Cincinnati’s left side, and sent a low cross into the box for substitute Josef Martínez, who took a touch in the middle of the penalty area and found the bottom right corner of the net with his left-footed shot.

CIN: Yuya Kubo, GOAL – 58′ (1-1) – FC Cincinnati leveled the score, with the goal threat originating with Luciano Acosta in the midfield. In space, Acosta threaded a ball perfectly in behind the Montréal defense for Yuya Kubo running on, who calmly placed his shot past Montréal’s charging goalkeeper into the back of the net.

MTL: Ariel Lassiter, GOAL – 62′ (2-1) – Montréal reclaimed the lead, springing forth on a counter where the goal scorer Martínez now played distributor to Ariel Lassiter, who found himself in behind the Cincinnati defense and fired a near-post bullet to put the hosts ahead.
