Houston Dash News Release

HOUSTON – The Houston Dash announced two roster moves prior to their match later today against the Washington Spirit at Shell Energy Stadium. The Dash signed goalkeeper Heather Hinz for the 2024 NWSL season plus a club option for 2025. The team also waived defender Madelyn Desiano.

The Dash drafted Hinz with the No. 38 overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft earlier this year. The goalkeeper finished her career with the University of South Carolina with 32 clean sheets and tallied 255 saves across 61 appearances for the Gamecocks. She recently led South Carolina to the second round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship and was named the 2023 SEC Goalkeeper of the Year plus the Most Valuable Player at the 2023 SEC tournament. Hinz joined the Dash for preseason, which included trips to Tucson and Florida to face fellow NWSL teams.

Hinz joins a talented goalkeeping cohort that will navigate two tournaments this season. Houston will compete in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup later this year. The Dash will face the Kansas City Current on the road to open the tournament and host Tigres UANL and CF Pachuca at Shell Energy Stadium.

Desiano was drafted by the team in the 2023 NWSL Draft and finished with eight appearances. She made her professional debut in Houston’s 2-0 victory over the Chicago Red Stars on May 3, 2023, in the UGK NWSL Challenge Cup.
