March 21, 2024 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL)North Carolina Courage News Release

CARY, N.C. – The North Carolina Courage today announces a mutual contract termination agreement with Japanese midfielder Rikako Kobayashi, effective immediately.

Kobayashi was originally signed in July of 2023 to a contract through the 2024 season, but injury prevented the then-25-year-old from action.

“We thank Rikako for her time here with the club. Unfortunately, due to injury, she wasn’t able to see time here in the league. We wish her the best of luck and hope she can get back to doing what she loves most. And that’s playing football,” said Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas.

She was placed on the season-ending injury list in 2023 and carried that designation into the start of the 2024 season, thus the termination does not impact the Courage active roster.
