Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has emerged as a summer target for Paris Saint-Germain.

With talisman Kylian Mbappe destined to join Real Madrid, the French league leaders are examining the market for players with the potential to replace their captain.

Diaz, who joined Liverpool for a relative bargain £37.5million from Porto, is under contract until 2027 and understood to be happy at Anfield.

He has endured a tumultuous campaign, dealing with the kidnapping of his father, and Liverpool have played a huge part in bringing his family closer together.

PSG do have the financial clout to propose a substantial bid but Liverpool would be reluctant to lose such a key component of their forward line.

Jurgen Klopp was extolling Diaz’s quality following his livewire performance against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Liverpool boss has a strong relationship with the Colombia winger and PSG know that is one important dynamic that will change for Diaz come the summer.

Liverpool have still to confirm the official appointment of a sporting director – though it is expected to be Richard Hughes – alongside the return of Michael Edwards, so key decisions on player’s futures will have to wait until then at the earliest.

The club would also be determined to ensure no distractions get in the way of Klopp’s final months as he pushes for four trophies.
