FIRE TAKE ON CREW ON THE ROAD

Chicago Fire FC goes back on the road this weekend to take on their oldest rival, Columbus Crew, this Saturday, March 9 at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio. Saturday will be the 76th all-time contest between the two historic sides and just the fourth matchup to take place at Lower.com Field.


Chicago holds a 27-25-23 all-time record against their Ohio-based rival coming into this weekend’s match. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. Additionally, the match will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and will be transmitted locally in English on WLS-AM 890 and in Spanish on WRTO 1200 AM.

76 – Saturday marks a record 76th regular season contest between Chicago Fire FC and the Columbus Crew. The Fire have never played more games against another opponent in the MLS regular season since the team’s first MLS campaign in 1998.

98 – Chicago Fire FC has scored 98 total goals against rival Columbus Crew. If Chicago scores twice this weekend, it’ll be the fourth time the Fire score 100+ goals against an MLS opponent in Club history, including postseason, (New England Revolution – 125, New York Red Bulls – 111, D.C. United – 109).

90 – After recording a 90-minute start last weekend against Cincinnati, Homegrown midfielder Brian Gutiérrez registered his 90th MLS appearance. The Chicago native is now 10 appearances away from becoming the second Homegrown to reach the centennial mark. Last season, midfielder/defender Mauricio Pineda became the first to reach 100 appearances against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Aug. 30, 2023.

1,616 – The number of days that seperated goals scored in red kits. Designated Player Xherdan Shaqiri became the first Fire player to score in a red kit since Sept. 29, 2019, when Fabian Herbers scored in a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC at SeatGeek Stadium.
