SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC (0-1-1, 1 point) drew 0-0 with Austin FC (0-1-1, 1 point) on Saturday night on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field. It marked the first home match of the 2024 campaign for Seattle, as the Rave Green recorded their first clean-sheet and earned the first point of the 2024 campaign.

As part of Saturday’s festivities, Sounders FC honored the career of Osvaldo Alonso, who signed a one-day contract earlier this week to retire as a member of the club where he began his MLS career. Brian Schmetzer’s side returns to action with a road match next Saturday, March 9 against the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park (4:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

MATCH NOTES

Sounders FC now has one point through two games this season (0-1-1), currently tied for ninth in the Western Conference.

The Rave Green are now 3-1-3 in head-to-head regular-season matchups since Austin joined MLS in 2021.

Seattle is now 10-5-1 all-time in MLS regular-season home openers.

Offseason signing Pedro de la Vega made his first start for Sounders FC on Saturday. The Argentine made his club debut last weekend at LAFC and became the eighth player in club history to score a goal in his MLS debut.

Goalkeeper Andrew Thomas recorded his first career MLS shutout on Saturday. The 25-year-old made his MLS debut last weekend at LAFC, with Stefan Frei sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Danny Musovski made his Sounders FC home debut as a second-half substitute. The 28-year-old signed with the Rave Green this offseason following a nine-goal season with Real Salt Lake in 2023.

Sounders FC celebrated the career of club legend Osvaldo Alonso on Saturday. Alonso signed a one-day contract this week to officially retire as a member of Sounders FC, and was honored by the club pregame and during halftime of today’s match. Over 10 seasons in Seattle, Alonso led the club to eight major trophies, earning four MLS All-Star selections and one MLS Best XI honor. His 339 appearances across all competitions are the most by a field player in the MLS era of the club.
