Seattle Sounders FC News Release

RENTON, WA. – Following a 2-1 loss to D.C. United on Saturday, Seattle Sounders FC stays on the East Coast for a matchup against the Philadelphia Union on Tuesday, April 30 (4:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Tuesday’s matchup is a recommencement of the match originally played on March 9. The match was suspended in the sixth minute due to inclement weather and will resume in the same minute it was postponed. Full guidelines for the recommenced match can be found below.

Seattle currently sits in 13th place in the Western Conference with six points. Philadelphia is in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 13 points, most recently coming off a 2-1 home loss to Real Salt Lake.

Following Tuesday’s matchup, Seattle returns home to take on the LA Galaxy on Sunday, May 5 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (3:45 p.m. PT / Apple TV, FS1, 93.3 KJR FM, SiriusXM FC, El Rey 1360 AM).

MATCH RECOMMENCEMENT GUIDELINES

Tuesday’s match will recommence from the postponed March 9 fixture with a Philadelphia Union free kick at the 5:28 mark.

The match will recommence with the same players on the pitch and the same substitutes available from the initial match, except for starting players removed due to injury, illness, unavailability, or other certain exceptions.

Xavier Arreaga, who started the match on March 9, was traded to the New England Revolution last week. He can be replaced in the starting lineup with a player from the bench.

Sounders FC is permitted to replace the open bench slot with an available player from the club’s roster as of March 9, 2024.

Any other bench players who are unavailable due to injury, illness or other certain exceptions can be replaced by an available player from the club’s roster as of March 9, 2024.

These moves would not count against the five allotted substitutions each team has, nor will it count as one of the three substitution windows.

Both Seattle and Philadelphia have five remaining substitutes and three remaining substitution opportunities.
