Sidekicks Fall to Strykers on Second Match of Weekend Doubleheader

Mesquite, Texas – The Dallas Sidekicks faced the Texas Outlaws on Sunday night for the fifth time this season. The Outlaws lead the series 3-1 going into the game.

The first quarter was filled with back-and-forth goals. The Outlaws scored first in the game when Julio Varela scored at 2:05. A minute and a half later, the Outlaws added another one to the board when David Ortiz scored. Sidekicks player, Anthony Powell ended the goal streak for the Outlaws when he scored a minute after the Ortiz goal. Sidekicks player, Blas Pérez tied up the game at 10:32, but it was not tied for long because Outlaws forward, Vinicius Dantas scored 20 seconds later. The Outlaws added another goal to their lead with a goal scored by Brenden Lee. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 2-4.


At minute 4:30 in the second quarter, the Sidekicks scored with a goal by Jamie Lovegrove. Three minutes later, the Sidekicks tied the game again when Oscar Romero scored. Like the first quarter, the tied game was short-lived because Outlaws player Varela scored his second goal of the game. In the last minute of the quarter, the Outlaws added to their lead when Erik Macias scored. At the end of the second quarter, the score was 4-6.

Unlike the first and second quarters with lots of goals on both sides, there was only one goal scored in the third quarter. That goal was scored by Sidekicks midfielder, Gustavo Piedra making the Sidekicks only down by 1.

40 seconds into the fourth quarter, the Outlaws scored again and were up by two for the fourth time in the game. The goal was scored by Sebastian Mendez. Three minutes later, Outlaws forward Dantas added another goal and were up by three goals for the first time in the game. The Sidekicks pulled goalkeeper, Juan Gamboa and used the sixth attacker which was Oscar Romero. At 10:56, the Outlaws scored an empty net goal. Three minutes later, the sixth attacker was successful because Blas Pérez scored his second goal of the game. With only two minutes left in the game, the Sidekicks could not make a comeback. The final score of the game was 6-9.
