Switchbacks FC Announce New Additions to the 2024 Technical Staff

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced that Matt Besemer, Calle Brown, Keelan Power & Ben VanderWall have been added to the 2024 Switchbacks Technical Staff.

“Matt Besemer is a great new addition to the coaching staff and the club,” said Sporting Director, Stephen Hogan. “His expertise in Sports Performance and his attitude towards individual player growth is perfect for our group this year. I’m excited to see Matt work and we are delighted to have him join.


Matt Besemer is the newest Director of Performance for the 2024 season. Besemer has previously worked with the Armstrong State University Women’s soccer team, Orlando City Soccer Club, Athlete Training and Health, the Houston Dash, and Hartford Athletic. During his time with the Houston Dash, he helped the team win the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to become the Director of Performance for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks,” said Besemer. “I want to say thank you to the club, players, and staff for trusting me and for the warm welcome! I look forward to a successful season ahead and am eager to spend my Saturday night at Weidner Field.”

“Calle Brown is a fantastic goalkeeping coach who brings energy and intelligence into the group. The keepers have enjoyed his sessions,” said Hogan. “We look forward to that department growing, and we believe Calle could be an excellent fit for that growth to come!”

The newest goalkeeper coach, Calle Brown, joined the Switchbacks late in the 2023 season. Brown started his professional career back in 2011 and has since played for Northern Virginia Royals, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Houston Dynamo, Rio Grande Valley FC Toros, Seattle Sounders FC 2, and Loudoun United FC.

“Thank you to the Ragain family and the technical staff for the opportunity to develop the Switchbacks goalkeeping department, ” said Brown. “I am excited to help our goalkeepers maximize their potential here in the springs.

Other changes made to the 2024 technical staff include the addition of Keelan Power as the Individual Development Coach, Ben VanderWall as the Data Analyst, and David Martinez as the new Head Equipment Manager.

“Keelan Power will be part of the Academy staff but also an essential part of the first team,” said Hogan. “He is our new IDP coach and his main goal is to help the players with anything they need…
