Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer.  

The central defender has been linked with a move away from the club for some time, and is one of several stars new manager Oliver Glasner could struggle to keep a hold of in the summer transfer window. 

Mail Sport had reported that Tottenham had been considering a move for the 23-year-old in January, while Arsenal had also been ‘chasing’ the Eagles’ star in recent months

But according to The Telegraph, Liverpool are keen to sign the defender and ‘could face a fight with rivals Man United‘ to acquire him should Dan Ashworth join the Red Devils. 

The Newcastle sporting director, who was placed on gardening leave yesterday, has previously had an interest in signing the defender for the Magpies, per the Telegraph.

They claim that Ashworth ‘is known to be a fan of the player’ and could look to bring him to Old Trafford should he join Man United. 

The Merseyside outfit, have been long-standing admirers of the Palace defender, and could look to bolster their defensive stocks, with Joel Matip, 32, currently sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament tear.  

Guehi has also been sidelined since Crystal Palace’s 4-1 defeat against Brighton, after he limped from the field in the 28th minute after landing awkwardly on his knee

Mail Sport understands that he could be set to miss around three weeks, with Palace confident he has not suffered serious damage to the joints in his knee.
