HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – South Georgia Tormenta FC beat Huntsville City FC 1-2 in a nail-biting, final match of the inaugural Huntsville Blast Off Battle.

With a pressure-heavy start to the game, the crowd was able to enjoy a rousing first half filled with meticulous play and multiple shots taken by Tormenta FC. Ultimately, Huntsville City FC opened the scoring in the 24th minute from a deflected shot. Just prior in the 22nd minute, a heroic save came from keeper Drew Romig.


In the 54th minute, Pedro Fonseca scored the first goal, following a pass from Daniel Steedman. This skillful goal marked the first goal of the preseason schedule.

This 90-minute battle was hard-fought and played with great intensity on both sides. In the 79th minute, yellow cards were issued to both teams. Huntsville City FC was the first to receive a yellow card, followed almost immediately by a yellow card issued to Collin Mocyunas.

Later in the game in the 83rd minute, Trialist 7 was fouled by a member of Huntsville City FC, leading to a free kick taken by Gabi Rodriguez. From this free kick, Gabi Rodriguez blasted a shot into the back of the net for the winning goal.

Penalty kicks followed the conclusion of the game. Tormenta FC arose victorious in penalty kicks, with three penalty kicks made by Trialist 10, Collin Mocyunas, and Austin Wehner. Keeper Ford Parker made strong saves for two of Huntsville City’s penalty kicks.
