Wanderers Holding Coast-To-Coast Training Camp Ahead of Season Opener on Vancouver Island

Halifax, NS – The Halifax Wanderers are set to officially open their 2024 training camp on Wednesday, February 21 in Halifax. This year’s camp will take the squad across the country with stops in Ontario, Washington and British Columbia ahead of the club’s season-opening matches against Pacific FC and Vancouver FC.


“After a long but busy off-season of adding some important pieces to our existing solid core, we’re looking forward to bringing the players and staff back together and introducing some new faces to Halifax,” sporting director Matt Fegan said. “You always have an image in your mind as you assemble the squad. Now we’ll have the chance to evaluate how it’s coming together on the field with a combination of training and games against competitive opposition.”

Players will report to Halifax on Feb. 21 for medicals and fitness testing before kicking off three weeks of sessions in Nova Scotia. Training will be closed to the public, with the exception of a free-to-attend practice on March 12. Due to space limitations, attendees must RSVP. Click here to RSVP.

The Wanderers’ first pre-season matches will be against local opposition in a doubleheader against U SPORTS National Champions Cape Breton University. Season Seat Members are invited to RSVP to attend the first match on Friday, March 15 (4 p.m. start) – information on how to RSVP has been emailed to Season Seat Members. Click here to become a member. The second match will be played at Wickwire Field on March 16 (kickoff TBD) and will be open to the public to attend.

Following those matches, the Wanderers will travel to Ontario for a pair of friendlies against Forge FC and Toronto FC II before the club carries on to the Pacific Coast for the final weeks of training camp. Halifax will start in Seattle, Washington, with a match against the University of Washington before two final matches in BC against UBC and Vancouver Whitecaps 2.

The Wanderers will then take a short ferry ride from Vancouver to Vancouver Island for a meeting with Pacific FC on Saturday, April 13, in the club’s season opener and then return to the mainland for a meeting with Vancouver FC on April 18.
