West Ham STALL contract talks with David Moyes over an extension until 2026 – as Hammers hierarchy want to priortise ending their seven-game winless run first

West Ham have halted contract talks with David Moyes due to the club's alarming dip in form

West Ham‘s worrying dip is delaying David Moyes‘ new contract as the club want to see a response to their current mess which culminated in Sunday’s 6-0 capitulation to Arsenal.

That defeat saw supporters vote with their feet as thousands left the London Stadium once they when went 4-0 down before half-time, with Moyes slamming his team as ‘weak’.

Sources confirmed after a 2-0 win over Arsenal in December that they were ready to hand a new deal to the 60-year-old Scot whose current contract expires at the end of this season. Moyes even admitted two weeks ago that extension until June 2026 was on its way to being finalised.

Yet West Ham have not won in the Premier League since that victory away at the Emirates Stadium and there is now an acceptance that they must prioritise their problems first.

There is pressure on Moyes to respond with a ‘winnable’ run of games coming up against Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Everton and Burnley – all sitting in the bottom seven of the table.

Moyes is understood to feel frustrated with the lack of appreciation for what he has achieved with the club, mentioning after Sunday’s 6-0 loss: ‘Let’s be fair, the last three years have probably been as good a time as West Ham has had. Sixth, seventh in the league, semi-final of Europe, a final of a European competition. This club has grown.

‘Undoubtedly we’ve had a terrible day today so I understand totally them (the fans) leaving. We had a bad day. But I certainly won’t forget the good ones.’
