MARBELLA, SPAIN – In its final preseason friendly action from camp in Spain, Sounders FC faced Danish side Odense BK Thursday at the La Quinta Football Center in a pair of 90-minute scrimmages. Seattle dropped both matches by a score of 3-0 and 2-1, respectively, with Raúl Ruidíaz scoring the lone goal for the Rave Green in the second match. Brian Schmetzer’s side returns to Seattle this weekend for two weeks of preparation ahead of the 2024 MLS campaign, including a final friendly on Saturday, February 17 against USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC.

Odense got on the board in the first match after an attacker drew a foul inside the area, with Rami Al Hajj stepping up to the spot and converting the ensuing penalty in the 36th minute. Seattle looked more dangerous in the second half, creating multiple looks at goal, including a pair of chances in the 56th minute courtesy of Jordan Morris and Albert Rusnák. Odense found its second goal in the 65th minute on a close-range strike from Luca Kjerrumgaard before Leroy Ntiamoah Owusu added its third goal in the 82nd minute.

Seattle deployed a reserve-heavy lineup for the second scrimmage. It was Agon Mucolli who got the Danish side on the board early, finishing off a transitional attack in the seventh minute. Max Fenger doubled Odense’s lead in the 11th minute. After both sides created additional chances, Raúl Ruidíaz brought one back for Seattle from distance, firing a shot from far outside the area into the back of the net in the 85th minute.

Following next Saturday’s final preseason friendly against Sacramento, Sounders FC kicks off its 2024 MLS campaign on the road against LAFC at BMO Stadium on Saturday, February 24 (1:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, FOX, iHeartMedia Seattle, El Rey 1360 AM). The Rave Green’s home opener on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field then follows on Saturday, March 2 against Austin FC (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, iHeartMedia Seattle, El Rey 1360 AM).
