Allen, Texas – The Dallas Sidekicks have announced the signing of defender MASL College Draft Pick, Bryan Martinez for the 2023-2024 MASL season and signed with the club until 2025. Per team and league guidelines, additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Martinez grew up in Houston, Texas, and played club soccer for the Houston Texans DA and Houston Dynamo DA. Martinez went to high school at Klein High School and then went on to play collegiate soccer at Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont, California. He was there for one year before he went on to play at West Texas A&M University.
While at West Texas A&M University, Martinez made 64 appearances and netted one goal and assisted in five others. Throughout his career, Martinez earned three All-Lone Star Conference honors and was awarded the United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region in 2022.
Martinez was drafted in the second round of the 2023 MASL College Draft and was picked 14th overall. He made his debut with the club on Saturday, February 3rd against the San Diego Sockers.
When asked about Martinez, West Texas A&M Head Coach Butch Laufer said, “We are thrilled Bryan has signed a contract with the Dallas Sidekicks to continue his soccer career. Bryan was instrumental to West Texas A&M’s success on the pitch during his career as a Buffalo. He is a true leader on and off the field and always striving to continue improving.”
“I’ve been learning the new rules of indoor soccer and training twice a day to prepare. I want to be one of the best defenders in the league and help the team win games,” commented Martinez.
Watch Martinez and the rest of the Sidekicks at our next home game on Thursday, February 15th at 7 PM for OpTic HECZ Night. Tickets are on sale now at dallassidekicks.com/tickets.
