Today New York City FC announced that it has acquired Forward Agustín Ojeda from Argentinian side Racing Club through 2028 with an option for 2029. Having been capped by his country at youth level, Ojeda is one of the most exciting young talents in Argentina.

The 19-year-old Forward joins the Club as Major League Soccer’s U22 initiative and will join the team pending his ITC and P-1 Visa. The Argentine arrives in New York from Racing Club, where he made 24 appearances. During his time with Racing, Ojeda scored three goals and provided two assists, including five appearances and one goal in the Copa Libertadores.

“We are delighted to welcome Agustín to New York,” said Sporting Director David Lee. “Agustín is an exciting, dynamic winger with a lot of pace and attributes that we believe will translate to MLS. He’s a very talented player with high potential and he’ll add more variety and competition to our front line, being able to play on either the right or left side. Having gained meaningful senior experience in Argentina, both domestically and internationally in the Copa Libertadores, we believe Agustín adds a different profile to the current wingers we have on our team, and we’re excited for him to join the Club.”

The Rosario native joined Racing’s academy and progressed to the First Team, making his debut in 2022. Ojeda’s first professional goal came the following season in a 3-1 victory against Central Córdoba. Meanwhile, in South America’s prestigious club competition, Copa Libertadores, the right-footed winger scored in the Round of 16 against Atletico Nacional, helping Racing advance to the Quarterfinal of the competition.

“I am excited to be joining one of the best clubs in MLS that is known for competing for championships, while also focused on developing young players,” Forward Agustín Ojeda said. “I can’t wait to meet the coaching staff and my new teammates. I’m looking forward to bringing the experience I have gained in Argentina to add to this talented squad. I will continue to work hard every day to improve and develop into the player I know I can become. New York is one of the greatest cities in the world and I can’t wait to represent the Club and city with honor. I look forward to playing in front of New York’s passionate fans and help this team compete for trophies.”
