Gotham FC Agree to New Contracts with Three Returning Champions

HARRISON, NJ – NJ/NY Gotham FC today announced that midfielders Yazmeen Ryan, Delanie Sheehan, and Taryn Torres all agreed to new contracts to remain with the club. Ryan and Torres agreed to multi-year contracts through 2026, with Ryan having an option through 2027. Sheehan signed on through 2024, with an option for 2025.


“We are extremely happy to have so many players who greatly contributed to our success last season return to the club to continue building something really special,” said Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West. “At Gotham FC, we want sustained success, and having these players as well as others return will allow us to continue to grow as a club.”

In her first season with the club, Ryan became a consistent starter in the midfield and frontline. She started in 17 of the 21 matches in which she appeared, recording 1,557 minutes, one goal, and one assist for the 2023 regular season. In addition, the midfielder led the club with 30 appearances across all competitions in 2023. Ryan also started in all postseason games and netted a goal in the quarterfinals en route to the 2023 NWSL title.

Sheehan became an impact player and notable starter in her second professional season. She logged 26 games, 23 starts, 1,930 minutes, a goal, and three assists across all competitions in 2023. In the 2023 NWSL Quarterfinal, she scored her first career goal to help Gotham FC to a 2-0 win over the North Carolina Courage. Since being drafted by Gotham FC in 2021, Sheehan has appeared in 42 games and played 2,515 minutes for the club.

Torres is returning for her second campaign after missing 2023 due to a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury during preseason training camp. The midfielder had a very impressive rookie season, earning 11 starts in her 17 appearances as well as recording a passing distribution rating of 80.4 percent. The club selected the Frisco, Texas native with the No. 23 pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft.

Reigning NWSL Champions NJ/NY Gotham FC will return to action for the first time this year, with the stars of the 2023 title run joined by new high-profile signings, to compete in the single-match 2024 NWSL Challenge Cup against San Diego Wave FC on March 15 at Red Bull Arena.
