February 2, 2024 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)Empire Strykers News Release

Ontario, California – The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) today announced it has recognized Marco Fabián of the Empire Strykers as Offensive Player of the Month for January 2024. Between January 6 and January 28, the ex-Mexico ace and two-time FIFA World Cup veteran collected 16 points across six games for a points-per-game average of 2.7, earning at least one point in each match he appeared in during the month. Despite having only joined Empire in early December 2023, Fabián headed into this week ranking among the top ten in the MASL in goals, assists, points, powerplay goals, and points-per-game average.

Monterrey’s Berna Valdovinos was named MASL Goalkeeper of the Month, and his teammate Ismael Rojo received the award for MASL Defensive Player of the Month.

On January 6, Fabián’s two goals and two assists led the Strykers to an 11-4 win at Dallas. The midfielder enjoyed another standout shift in his side’s dramatic 6-7 loss at Tacoma on January 25, bagging a hat-trick and two helpers. Three days later, he put up two goals and one assist in Empire’s 8-7 overtime victory over visiting St. Louis. In the second quarter of the contest, Fabián was credited with a tally for going airborne and producing a spectacular scissor-kick that saw the ball smash off the boards and trickle over the line via an opposition defender. Fabián later sent the home fans into a frenzy by firing home the golden goal.

Marco Fabián and the Empire Strykers return to the turf this coming Sunday, February 4, for a massive clash with the unbeaten Monterrey Flash. The meeting at Ontario’s Toyota Arena is scheduled to kick off at 4:05 p.m. PT. Tickets are available at www.tixr.com/groups/theempirestrykers.
