January 30, 2024 – Canadian Premier League (CPL)Pacific FC News Release

Langford, BC – Pacific FC today announced that the club has picked up the 2024 option on forward Ayman Sellouf ahead of the Trident’s sixth season in the Canadian Premier League (CPL).

Sellouf put up seven goals for Pacific in his first season in the CPL in 2023 and finished the year as one of 10 finalists for the League’s coveted Players’ Player of the Year Award.

“Ayman is the most exciting player in the CPL and someone with a huge potential,” said Jamar Dixon, Manager of Football, Pacific FC. “His one-on-one dribbling and ability to create space is among the best in the league and he has an incredibly high ceiling.”

Sellouf, 22, appeared for Pacific 33 times over 1,856 minutes in 2023. In addition to his remarkable goal count, he put up eight assists and was named CPL Player of the Month in June of that year.

Hailing from Nijmegen, Netherlands, Sellouf began his career playing for NEC Nijmegen and went on to sign a professional contract in 2019. His early career included stints with FC Utrecht and Jong Utrecht, both in the Eerste Divisie, the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands.

Internationally, Sellouf previously trained with Morocco’s U-18 national team, a country he is eligible to represent because he was born to Moroccan parents.

Sellouf will lead Pacific’s attack in 2024 alongside fellow forward Adonijah Reid, who enters his second season with the club. Reid is a former teammate of Dixon’s, after the two played together at the Ottawa Fury in 2017 and 2018. It was there that Dixon saw the potential in the then 17-year-old Reid and took him under his wing. Reid, who scored five goals and added four assists in his first year on Vancouver Island, will remain until contract with the Tridents this season with a club option for 2025.

Pacific’s roster now totals 13 players and includes: Sellouf, Reid, Josh Heard, Steffen Yeates, Sean Young, Paul Amedume, Pierre Lamothe, Thomas Meilleur-Giguère, Georges Mukumbilwa, Kunle Dada-Luke, Cédric Toussaint, Zakaria Bahous and Emil Gazdov. Michael Maslanka and Ibrahem Saadi, who were selected by Pacific with the sixth and fourteenth picks, respectively, in the 2024 CPL-U Sports Draft, will also join the Tridents for their pre-season training in hopes of securing a permanent spot on the squad for the coming season.
