CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars today announced the departure of their longtime goalkeeper coach, Rade Tanaskovic. Tanaskovic and his family will be moving away from Chicago to be closer to the rest of their family.

“On behalf of the Red Stars for all his work and contributions to the organization,” said Chicago Red Stars president, Karen Leetzow. “Rade informed us of his decision to depart the organization prior to the NWSL Draft, but graciously agreed to stay on to help with the integration of the new coaching staff and the start of preseason. We wish him and his family all the best.”

“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Rade for the last 5 years,” said Alyssa Naeher, Red Stars goalkeeper. “His commitment to this team and meticulous, attention to detail is second to none. I wish him and his family all the best as they move on to this new chapter.”

“I’d like to thank the Chicago Red Stars for allowing me to be a part of the organization for these past five seasons,” said Tanaskovic. “This organization has treated me and my family very well in the last few years and this was a difficult decision for us, but we leave knowing that the Red Stars are in great hands going forward. Thank you, Chicago, thank you, Red Stars.”

Tanaskovic joined the Red Stars in 2019, the first year the club made it to the National Women’s Soccer League Championship match, and was part of the club’s next three playoff appearances, including the 2020 and 2021 Challenge Cup Championship and NWSL Championship matches. In his time with the Red Stars and during international breaks, Tanaskovic would often join the United States Women’s National Team as an assistant coach.

The Red Stars would like to thank Rade for his years of commitment to the club and the players and wish him all the best in all his future endeavors.
