PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC (4-3-1, 13 points) earned a 2-1 victory over the Washington Spirit at Providence Park with goals from Sam Coffey and Christine Sinclair. The win marks the third such result in eight days for the Thorns, earning all nine possible points through the three matches, outscoring their opponents 7-3.

For the third straight game the Thorns found the back of the net inside the first quarter hour, with Sam Coffey giving Portland the early lead with her fourth-minute goal, good for her second score of the season, assisted by Hina Sugita.
