LOS ANGELES – USC Women’s Soccer Head Coach Jane Alukonis announced the hiring of Megan Hinz as the Trojans’ Goalkeepers Coach this week, adding the former professional keeper to the USC coaching staff.

“We are so grateful to add Megan to our staff,” said Alukonis, who just finished her second season at the helm for USC. “She possesses extensive goalkeeping knowledge from playing at the professional level and coaching collegiately. Megan will be a great leader for our student-athletes. She is intelligent, hardworking, and resilient in pursuit of her soccer goals. She will pour herself into the goalkeeping environment and overall team culture, which will help take us to the next level.”

Hinz comes to USC after spending the past two years as the goalkeeping coach at Penn. Prior to her time in the Ivy League, Hinz spent four seasons as a professional goalkeeper in the NWSL. Her professional career began in Sweden for the Gustafs Goif (2018) and she moved back to the states in March of 2019 to play for the Chicago RedStars (2019), and last played for Gotham NY/NJ FC (2019-21).

“I am beyond excited to start this new experience at USC,” said Hinz, who was also a standout collegiate keeper at Michigan. “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from such an experienced and hardworking staff. It’s a dream to be able to work in the environment created and upheld by USC’s athletic department and the women’s soccer staff and players. I am looking forward to contributing to the continued success of the program.”

Prior to starting her professional career, Hinz served as an assistant coach at DePaul University in Chicago. During her time there, the Blue Demons advanced to their first Big East Tournament and the team posted its fourth best goals against average (0.83) in program history.

Hinz was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten (2015-17) honoree and was a two-time Michigan Athletic Academic Achievement (2015-16) honoree. After her third week of collegiate soccer, she was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 15, 2014). She finished her career ranked inside Michigan’s all-time top 10 in four career categories — fourth in goals-against average (0.97), sixth in wins (25), seventh in shutouts (11.4), and ninth in saves…
