Forge FC is thrilled to announce the inaugural School Day Match, presented by Stelco on Tuesday, May 7 at 11 a.m. ET. This groundbreaking event marks the first of its kind in the Canadian Premier League, as the club extends a warm welcome to students in grades 6 to 12 to Tim Hortons Field to watch Forge FC take on HFX Wanderers FC.

Soccer has proven to be an effective medium for promoting physical activity, teamwork, and a sense of belonging among youth. By bringing together students from various school boards, Forge FC and Stelco aim to foster healthy, active, and engaged youth in both the local Hamilton community and neighbouring areas that transcend traditional classroom boundaries.

As the presenting sponsor, Stelco’s generous support enables Forge FC to extend invitations to over 1,000 students from high-priority schools within the HWDSB and HWCDSB, breaking down barriers and providing equal opportunities for all youth to witness this thrilling soccer match. Moreover, Stelco will contribute to alleviating transportation costs, ensuring this experience remains affordable for all students eager to witness the reigning CPL Champions in action.

“We are proud to partner with Forge FC in the inaugural School Day Match, recognizing the transformative power soccer has in shaping the lives of young individuals,” said Trevor Harris, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Stelco. “Together, we’re fostering a culture of health, inclusivity, and engagement that goes beyond the classroom, ensuring Hamilton’s youth have equal access to this unique and inspiring experience.”

The Forge FC School Day Match will see active participation from school boards in the local area including the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, and Halton District School Board. This collaborative effort aims to cultivate school spirit, community pride, and create lasting relationships through the shared passion for sport.

“This event goes beyond the beautiful game; it’s about building connections, fostering a sense of community, and promoting the importance of living an active lifestyle among our youth,” said Courtney Stephen, Director of Community Partnerships at Hamilton Sports Group, “Forge FC is proud to partner with Stelco, HWDSB, HWCDSB, and HDSB in this initiative, emphasizing the positive impact soccer can have on the development of young minds.”
