  • Is it a mid-life crisis for De Bruyne? A great player, but what about the new look? Is he recording a song? Go back to being boring Kevin! It’s All Kicking Off

Karim Benzema could leave Al-Ittihad after being left out of their Dubai training camp by the club’s manager, Marcelo Gallardo – according to reports.

The Real Madrid legend was one of many top European players to make the switch to the Saudi Pro League in the summer, joining Al-Ittihad in an £86m-a-year move.

There were high expectations placed on the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner, especially given the fact we was going to be linking up with two of the top Premier League midfielders of recent years in N’Golo Kante and Fabinho.

However, things have turned sour for Benzema. The fans at the club have even hit out at the 36-year-old – giving him the nickname ‘Ben-Hazima’ which in Arabic translates to ‘the son of defeat’.

Therefore, according to TyC Sports, Benzema could leave the Saudia Arabian club during the January transfer window – with Angel Correa set to succeed him.

Al-Ittihad have suffered six defeats so far this season – already four more than they achieved across the whole of the 2022-23 season.

They are seventh in the Saudi Pro League standings and have failed to win four of their last five games in all competitions.

They also suffered a disappointing early defeat from the FIFA Club World Cup after losing to Al Ahly in the second round.

This has led to fans turning against Benzema, as evident by their brutal nickname, as they have been ‘relentless’ in their criticism of the underachieving side.

There were loud boos from Al-Ittihad fans after their defeat by Al-Nassr, in a game where former team-mate Ronaldo and Sadio Mane both bagged braces.
