Wycombe Wanderers have signed a West Ham youngster on loan who just scored against them three days ago.

Long-term Wycombe target Gideon Kodua scored for the Hammers‘ U21 side in their Bristol Street Motors Trophy tie on Tuesday night.

Wycombe ultimately reached the next round of the EFL Trophy following a 2-1 victory, but the League One side were impressed enough to quickly make a move happen.

The club have confirmed the loan move in a statement on their website, in which they hail the 19-year-old, saying he ‘dazzled in a goalscoring display for the Young Hammers’ on Tuesday night.

Kodua also captained West Ham’s U18 side to FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League South division success last season.

At Wycombe, he will join West Ham team-mate Freddie Potts, who has been with the Chairboys since the start of the season.

Subject to EFL and FA approval, Kodua will be available for Wycombe when they face Lincoln City at Adams Park on Saturday.

The move will give Kodua some valuable first-team experience, at a side who are 16th in the League One table – six points above the relegation spots.
