Racing Louisville and forward Kirsten Wright agreed to a new three-year contract that will run through the 2026 season, the club announced Wednesday.
The agreement represents a new deal with fresh terms for Wright – formerly known as Davis – and replaces the previous contract she had with Racing. The club originally exercised the 2024 option on Wright’s former contract last fall.
“I’m beyond excited to continue my career here in Louisville,” Wright said. “This city and club have become my home. I am so thankful to be working with such great players, staff and representing such an amazing city!”
“We could not be more excited to keep Kirsten in Louisville for the foreseeable future,” said Ryan Dell, Racing’s general manager. “Her growth both on and off the pitch has been remarkable, and we are excited for her to take the next steps here at Racing.”
Wright, 25, is coming off a strong second year as a professional, scoring five goals in 26 appearances between the NWSL regular season and UKG NWSL Challenge Cup last year. Her first-half goal in the Challenge Cup semifinal stood as the game-winner and helped Louisville reach its first NWSL tournament final in club history.
Twice last season, Wright scored a dramatic game-tying goal late in matches – first in a 1-1 draw against Angel City in front of a record 10,214 fans at Lynn Family Stadium, then in a 3-2 comeback win over the Orlando Pride in the home finale.
“Kirsten has just been excellent for this group on and off the pitch,” said Racing head coach Bev Yanez. “She always wants to learn and enhance her game in any aspect. She is always willing to put in the defensive work that is asked of her as a striker. She has an ability to get pressure on the ball to help make things predictable as a 9 and then offer an option quickly offensively to create. I’m looking forward to continuing to support her growth.”
A former star at Texas Tech, Wright impressed in her rookie season, too, tallying three goals and an assist in 24 appearances through the 2022 calendar year.
The No. 13 pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft, Wright returned to Texas Tech for a fifth season, originally deferring entry into the professional ranks. An All-American and all-conference performer, Davis finished her time at Texas Tech as the program’s second-leading all-time goal scorer.
