Experienced Trophy Winner Jamil Roberts Joins Chattanooga Squad

Chattanooga would like to welcome Jamil Roberts, a left back from Langport, England, to its 2024 roster, pending league and federation approval.

During 2023, Roberts played for Australian football club Peninsula Power FC from the National Premier League Queensland. Roberts played a total of 1,377 minutes across 17 matches for the team and contributed one goal and three assists.

In the 2022 season, Roberts was a part of USL League One’s South Georgia Tormenta FC championship squad. Roberts played a total of 1,363 minutes starting 15 out of 26 games for Tormenta and had three goals and one assist on the season.

Previous to League One play, Roberts played for Sporting Kansas City II from July 2021-February 2022. Roberts also attended Marshall University for his four collegiate years. He totaled 4,545 minutes for the Herd with 19 goals and 20 assists, 2nd all-time. In 2020, Roberts scored the game winning overtime golden goal to defeat #3 seed Indiana by a score of 1-0 to win the Thundering Herd the NCAA Division 1 Men’s National Championship for the first time in program history.

“Jamil is a winner, he has won at college, he has won USL League One and he has scored in both finals he has played in,” said head coach Scott Mackenzie of Roberts’ playing history. “With the goals we have, we felt it was important to sign players that have a proven track record of being part of winning programs and cultures. He is a left back that comes in with a great engine, a lot of quality in his left foot and a track record of being a winner. Jamil will play a big part in shaping our team on and off the field.”

The Chattanooga Red Wolves will begin their 2024 season on the road against Lexington SC on Saturday, March 15th before returning to CHI Memorial Stadium for their home opener on Saturday, March 30th. Season tickets are available to purchase online.
