Mohamed Salah’s agent hits back at old report from Italian journalist claiming Liverpool star ‘was keen for a move to Spain’ – in potential hint over his Anfield future

Mohamed Salah has been imperious form this term with 18 goals in all competitions for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah‘s agent has responded to a report from March 2023 claiming that his client was keen for a move to Spain.

The Egyptian forward signed a new contract in summer 2022 that will keep him at the club until 2027, but faced speculation over his future last summer when linked with a move to Al-Ittihad.

There had been reports of a bid worth around £200million for the Reds star, however he remained at Anfield for the start of this season.

Salah is currently away with Egypt gearing up for the start of AFCON later this month, but has been in imperious form once more for the Reds with 18 goals in all competitions.

However despite the fact that he still has three years left on his contract, his agent has refuted claims from last year that Salah is keen on a move, which raises questions over the timing.

The original report from Foot Mercato in March 2023 suggested that the player was growing frustrated with Liverpool’s progress and was asking questions over his future.

Last term was one of the Reds’ least successful in recent years, although they still qualified for the Europa League and had a strong 2023, with much of the damage to their campaign coming in the early stages.

It also contended that Salah was very seriously considering a move, and was sparing no bones in making his thoughts known to the club.

While it was then believed by the outlet that he was keen on a move to Spain, with the player deeming LaLiga a stimulating enough challenge.

However, on Monday Salah’s representative Ramy Abbas replied to the original post on X: ‘You just don’t know.’

The original report was made by the journalist who reported Kylian Mbappe was set to join Real Madrid on Sunday night, which might suggest why Abass has only now responded to his claims over Salah.

It comes after Mail Sport reported exclusively in December that Al-Ittihad would return for another bid in the summer.
