CARY, N.C. – North Carolina FC today announces the signing of defender Bryce Washington to a two-year contract through the 2025 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.

Washington brings nearly 5,000 minutes of USL Championship experience across three seasons between Atlanta United II and Loudoun United. In 63 career appearances in the USL’s top flight, Washington has won 66.3% of his duels and 66.7% of his tackles with 119 aerial duels, 98 interceptions, 200 clearances, and a passing accuracy of 86.44%.

“Bryce is a physical and aggressive defender that will bring toughness to our back line. He has superb attention to detail and has proven himself at this level. He can play multiple positions and is another addition that will allow us flexibility both in formations and in-game adjustments,” said NCFC head coach and sporting director John Bradford.

“From my first conversation with Coach Bradford and the rest of the staff, I knew NCFC would be a great fit. NCFC has a proven record of success and championship pedigree and 2024 will be an exciting year for the club. Having played in and around the Raleigh/Cary area growing up and in college, I have seen first-hand how great of a soccer town it is and how passionate the club’s fanbase is. I believe that our coaching staff has put together a team that will be ready to compete for a Championship on day one and I look forward to helping the club achieve that goal,” Washington said.

An Atlanta native, Washington signed a homegrown contract with Atlanta United after college and played two seasons with affiliate Atlanta United II in 2021 and 2022. Washington then moved to Loudoun United for the 2023 season, where he played in 22 games.

Washington played two seasons at Rutgers University before transferring to Pitt for his final two seasons, helping Pitt to the College Cup semifinals in his junior season. While at Pitt, Washington played in 38 games, racking up 3,082 minutes, six goals, and one assist.

Washington is the 12th new signing of the off-season and, joining returners, brings the total to 24 players on the active roster. The North Carolina FC 2024 USL Championship campaign begins on Saturday, March 9, against the Charleston Battery at WakeMed Soccer Park.
