STARKVILLE – Mississippi State standout Maddy Anderson has been named to the prestigious 2023 Academic All-America Second Team by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Anderson’s exceptional academic achievements, coupled with her prowess on the soccer field, have earned her a spot among the nation’s top student-athletes.
Academic All-American is a title reserved for college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom. The all-time list of 40,000+ Academic All-Americans includes major sports stars and some of the world’s most accomplished individuals in medicine, business, science, and the arts. Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions.
Anderson, a dual-degree student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology (undergraduate) and a master’s degree in kinesiology & sport pedagogy (graduate), has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her academic career. This outstanding accomplishment places her among a select group. 12 of the 33 members of the Academic All-America Division I women’s soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school.
Notably, Anderson is one of only six student-athletes on the Academic All-America Team who have earned the distinction of repeat selections. Her consistency in balancing academic excellence and athletic performance underscores her commitment to both arenas.
In addition, Anderson stands out as one of two individuals from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to receive this honor, highlighting her exceptional achievements within a highly competitive conference.
Anderson’s dedication to her studies and her exemplary performance on the soccer field make her a true embodiment of the student-athlete ideal.
