Personally, i think David Moyes will be at West Ham United until the end of this season no matter what, i think it is rather ludicrous to suspect they want him gone beforehand, highest points tally ever at this point of a Premier League season, and (barring the Fulham result which was clearly due to a sickness bug) only two genuinely bad results so far in Everton (H) and Crystal Palace (H).
I think they have someone in mind already, but who may not be available imediately. Moyes has a great chance to prove his credentials to the footballing community while he has this team, so he won’t want to go either. It is now Moyes’ job to justify why the board should keep him at the end of the season instead of rolling the dice on someone new. He will be motivated to put the Board into a tough position becasue media will destroy them if they get rid of him and we do worse next season.
Right now, it would be easy for Moyes to focus only on the Europa now and forget the league games and potentially still end up with another trophy and in the Champions League. IMO though, he needs to prove he can keep us in Europe via the league, so I think he needs to get to the final of the Europa Cup and get Europa League via the PL to be kept on, not one or the other, both (baring some extenuating circumstances). It’s then very hard to justify not renewing his contract were Moyes to achieve this and the board would have to have a very exciting appointment (not someone like Cooper LOL) to not give him renewal. They would be crucified in the media if not.
We have all had issues with his tactics, substitutions and game management, etc at some point, and it certainly costs us points at times, but credit has to go to him that he has been our most succesful manager in ages, and we as fans (and a club) need to show acknowledgement of that or we will rightly be ridiculed in the media. Some of our best memories have been under his tenure, and IMO he should already go down in our history books for what he has achieved. If this is his last season, us WHU fans should 100% give him a big send off. We should be showing that we are a fanbase who appreciate his achievements, it will only attract good players / managers to come to West Ham in the future.
His issue is, he has arguably got 3 players worth £80m or more currently, backed up by a very strong spine of players as well. So, he should be achieving top 8 minimum with this lot. Achieving the points he has so far this season and not being…
