Mirkovic Drafted In Second Round of 2024 MLS SuperDraft By Orlando City SC

PITTSBURGH – For the fourth straight season, the Pitt men’s soccer team had a player selected in Major League Soccer SuperDraft as senior midfielder Filip Mirkovic was taken with the 25^th pick in the second round, 54^th overall, by Orlando City SC.

Mirkovic becomes the ninth Panther under Head Coach Jay Vidovich to be drafted in the MLS SuperDraft. The talented playmakers has been a mainstay in the Panthers midfield for the past four seasons, helping lead the squad to three Elite Eights and two Final Fours during his impressive career.

The Manhattan, NY native appeared in and started 16 matches for the Panthers this season while leading the squad with nine assists and 25 shots. His nine assists were the third most in the ACC and 15^th most in the NCAA this season. The senior had the best game of his Pitt career in a 5-1 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson as he tied a program record with four assists including one on the game-winning goal.

Mirkovic concluded his impressive Pitt career as one of the best midfielders in program history. For his career, he racked up nine goals, 28 assists and 46 points on 104 shots across 75 matches. His 28 assists are a program record for assists in a career while his .37 assists per game ranks fourth all-time and his .61 points per game is seventh best in program history.

He capped his career being named First Team All-ACC and First Team All-South Region in each of his last two seasons while also finishing the 2023 season ranked No. 70 in the Top Drawer Soccer National Top-100 list.
