Church Adds Santa Clara Transfer Farrah Walters

DURHAM –Duke women’s soccer head coach Robbie Church announced Saturday the addition of First Team All-West Coast Conference (WCC) selection Farrah Walters, after completing two seasons at Santa Clara.

Walters, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., is coming off an impressive two-year stint with the Broncos where she tallied 16 goals, six assists and 38 points.  She started 29-of-37 matches played and appeared in 2,173 minutes.  Walters earned First Team All-WCC honors as a sophomore and WCC All-Freshman honors in 2022, while also garnering All-West Second Team All-Region accolades this season.

“I was already well aware of Duke’s excellence in academics and sports, but getting to know the coaching staff and see how they interact with and support their players sealed the deal for me,” said Walters.  “It was such a sincere and welcoming feeling from them all. I can’t wait to compete and play in the ACC!”

One of the top goal scorers in the nation, Walters is coming off an impressive sophomore season with 11 goals, two assists and 24 points.  She saw action in 1,197 minutes and collected three game-winning goals. The 5-6 forward posted four multi-goal performances in 2023, including a hat trick versus Pacific in September.  In the WCC statistics this past season, Walters ranked tied for second in goals (11), tied for second in game-winning goals (3), fourth in points (24) and eighth in shots (51).  Her 11 goals in 2023 ranked tied for 40th nationally.

Walters started 12-of-17 matches as a freshman at Santa Clara registering five goals and four assists for 14 points.  Three of her goals came on the road at Oregon in a 4-1 victory, which was also her first collegiate start. Walters also added an assist for an impressive seven points in the match.  She earned WCC All-Freshman honors for her efforts as a rookie.

A WCC All-Academic selection this season, Walters will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Blue Devils.
