Utah Royals FC selected Racing Louisville FC forward Paige Monaghan in Friday’s 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft.

Monaghan tallied four goals and two assists in 28 appearances across all competitions in her only year with Racing.

“We are disappointed to lose Paige in the Expansion Draft,” said Racing general manager Ryan Dell. “Paige was the consummate professional on and off the field. She made a great impact here and will be missed in Louisville. We wish her all the best in the future.”

Racing could initially protect nine members of its roster, plus an additional player once Utah selected Monaghan. Utah chose to pass on each of its next three picks in the Expansion Draft and avoided selecting another Louisville player.

In November, Racing traded alternative allocation money and a third-round NWSL Draft to Bay FC, the league’s other incoming expansion team, in exchange for a second-round pick and protection in Friday’s Expansion Draft.

Racing now looks ahead to a transaction window that opens Saturday and runs through Dec. 22. After a week break, another transaction window opens on Dec. 29 and runs into the NWSL Draft on Jan. 12.

Live coverage of the 2024 NWSL Draft, presented by Ally, will be televised on ION from 8-10 p.m. ET. All rounds of the draft will be streamed on ION Plus.
