Annor Named 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-American

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The United Soccer Coaches announced Friday (Dec. 8) its 37 selections to the 2023 All-America teams which include Virginia’s Stephen Annor as a third-team selection. Annor is the only freshman listed on the 2023 teams and is one of just two freshmen to earn the honor in the last four seasons.

Annor becomes the first Virginia freshman to be listed on the United Soccer Coaches All-American squads since the 1991 season when Claudio Reyna was a first-team selection. He becomes just the fourth Cavalier in program history to accomplish the feat as a freshman joining Reyna, Tony Meola (1988) and Jeff Agoos (1986).

The forward is Virginia’s first All-American selection overall since 2019 when four Cavaliers were named to the teams.

The honor comes following a stand-out season for Annor who was named the ACC Freshman of the Year while earning first team All-ACC honors. Annor led Virginia with 10 goals on the season, becoming the first Cavalier to hit double digits since Daryl Dike in 2019 and the first freshman to do so since Will Bates logged 12 goals in 2009.

Annor was dominant in ACC play. Of his 10 goals, seven came in league competition, a mark that is tied for the highest in the conference and helped guide Virginia to its second consecutive runner-up finish in the Coastal Division.
