Allen, Texas – The Dallas Sidekicks have announced rookie defender, Grant Michaels, to the squad for the 2023-2024 MASL season. This will mark his first season playing professional indoor soccer. Per team and league guidelines, additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Michaels grew up in Kent, Washington. Despite playing multiple sports growing up, soccer was not one of them until he made the high school soccer team at Kentwood High. Ever since then, Michaels had soccer as his passion.
After high school, Michaels went on to play collegiate soccer at Bellevue College. Then, he transferred to the University of Texas at Austin to pursue broadcast journalism. After graduation, Michaels had the opportunity to play in Sweden. After returning to the US, Michaels signed with the Michigan Stars in the NISA and then Flower City Union after a midseason transfer.
In 2023, Michaels returned to playing abroad, but this time in Australia with Newcastle Olympic FC in the second division in Australia. Now, he’s back playing in the US and this will be his first professional season in indoor soccer.
“The history of the Sidekicks is something I’ve never seen before. Having the chance to play for the Sidekicks is important to me because of the community environment and the culture,” commented Michaels.
