CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Six Cavaliers have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District team as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) the organization announced Tuesday (Nov. 21).
The Virginia selections include midfielders Umberto Pelà, Axel Ahlander, and Albin Gashi as well as defenders Paul Wiese, Aidan O’Connor and Will Citron.
Wiese and Citron each make their second appearances on the all-district team while Pelà, O’Connor, Ahlander and Gashi earn their first selections. Five Cavaliers were hnored with the distinction in 2022 (Citron, Wiese, Andreas Ueland, Moritz Kappelsberger, and Kome Ubogu).
Individuals from selected to all-district teams advance to the CSC Academic All-America Ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
