Four ACC Men's Soccer Teams Reach NCAA Tournament Round of 16

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Virginia earned second-round wins Sunday in the 2023 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. The ACC has a quarter of the remaining teams in the field, most of any league.
 
No. 2 seed Notre Dame downed Kentucky, 2-0, while No. 3 North Carolina blanked Memphis, 2-0. No. 9 Clemson knocked off Charlotte, 3-0, and No. 10 seed Virginia outlasted FIU in overtime, 2-1.
 
In third-round matches next Sunday, Notre Dame will play host to Western Michigan, North Carolina welcomes No. 14 seed Hofstra, Virginia entertains Indiana and Clemson travels to No. 8 seed New Hampshire.
 
Four ACC teams had their seasons end Sunday, with No. 10 Wake Forest falling to Indiana in overtime, 3-2, No. 15 Duke dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to Western Michigan, Louisville falling 1-0 at No. 5 West Virginia and Syracuse losing 3-0 at No. 8 New Hampshire.
 
No. 2 Notre Dame 2, Kentucky 0
Bryan Boneau and Nolan Spicer scored second-half goals as Notre Dame (12-2-4) rolled past Kentucky (8-8-4) in South Bend, Indiana. Goalkeeper Bryan Dowd made three saves as the Fighting Irish recorded their 10th clean sheet of the season.
 
No. 3 North Carolina 2, Memphis 0
A brace from Martin Vician secured a 2-0 win for North Carolina (11-3-6) over Memphis (11-6-2) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The stingy UNC defense did not allow a shot on goal for the first time this season.
 
No. 7 Virginia 2, FIU 1 (OT)
Leo Afonso scored both goals for Virginia (10-3-4), including the eventual game winner in the 94th minute, as the Cavaliers outlasted FIU (10-5-4) in overtime in Charlottesville, Virginia. UVA extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games.
 
No. 9 Clemson 3, Charlotte 0
Coming off winning the 2023 ACC Championship last Sunday, Clemson (11-3-5) rolled to a 3-0 win over Charlotte (13-4-1) in Clemson, South Carolina. Alex Meinhard, Brandon Parrish and Ousmane Sylla each recorded goals, while Joseph Andema made three saves in earning the clean sheet.
 
Indiana 3, No. 10 Wake Forest 2 (OT)
Wake Forest (11-3-5) fell in overtime to Indiana (14-4-4) in a back-and-forth battle in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Jahlane Forbes netted a 21st-minute goal to give Wake the early lead. In the second half, the Hoosiers and Demon Deacons exchanged goals in the 54th, 67th…
