No. 23 USC Women’s Soccer Blanks Cal, 2-0

LOS ANGELES – The No. 23 USC women’s soccer team finished its regular season home slate with a 2-0 win over California on Sunday, posting its ninth shutout of the year in the win.
 
The Trojans got goals from Maribel Flores and Izzy Kimberly as USC moves to 10-3-3 overall and 6-1-3 in Pac-12 play. Cal moves to 7-5-6, 4-2-4.
 
Flores struck in the 14th minute to give USC the lead, finishing a cross from Kayla Colbert for her sixth goal of the season. Colbert was also in on the assist in the second half when she helped set up Zoe Burns for a cross that Kimberly headed home in the 52nd minute.
 
USC outshot the Bears 16-5, putting six balls on target to just one for Cal. The Trojans also had a 7-4 corner kick advantage and held 57% of the possession.
 
GOALS
14′ – USC: Maribel Flores (assisted by Kayla Colbert, Izzy Kimberly) – Colbert crossed it in from the right and Flores volleyed it out of the air on the bounce from the left side of the box.
 
52′ – USC: Izzy Kimberly (assisted by Zoe Burns, Kayla Colbert) – Burns sent a ball across the face of goal from the right and Kimberly headed it in near the far post.
