Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remained coy when asked about James Milner and Alexis Mac Allister during his press conference on Friday.
The Reds are expected to be busy during this summer’s transfer window. They are likely to sign two or three new midfielders before next season.
Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister is reportedly Liverpool’s new transfer priority after they pulled out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham.
James Milner could be heading the other way this summer as Brighton are interested in signing him on a free transfer.
Unsurprisingly, Klopp did not say too much when he was asked about Milner and Mac Allister during his latest press conference.
“No (nothing to say). I can say really good conversations with [Milner]. He knows how highly I value him,” Klopp told reporters.
“What the outcome will be of his decisions, I’m not sure if it happened already. Nothing to say about it (Mac Allister).”
Liverpool have won five Premier League games in a row. They are four points behind fourth-placed Man Utd after their rivals lost 1-0 against Brighton on Thursday evening.
United still have a game in hand and they need just nine points from their remaining five matches to ensure that they will finish ahead of Liverpool.
Klopp expects “United to get the points they need” to finish in the top four.
“Other teams are above us and if they win their games we have no chance,” Klopp admitted.
“We have teams behind us, Brighton could win all of their games this season given how they played last night.
“We have 59 points, we can get 71 maximum, I think United will get the points they need. We have enough to do with ourselves. Brentford, oh my God, it’s such a difficult game. They are really good at counter-attacking. The players and the manager are great.”
He added: “All we can do is take care of our own business. No one looks like losing more games than they’ll win.
“It’s about finishing the season as high as possible for us. It was that before but it wasn’t looking as bright. It could be fifth. Tottenham, Brighton and maybe Brentford are fighting for that.”

Klopp has also revealed that last month’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal was a turning point for Liverpool.
