Real Madrid ‘vow’ to Bellingham was major ‘selling point’ as report reveals structure of £130m deal

Real Madrid to sign Bellingham

According to reports, Real Madrid made a ‘vow’ to Jude Bellingham and this helped them win the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund teenager.

Bellingham has been heavily linked with a move away from Dortmund over recent months. This comes amid his superb form for the Bundesliga outfit and England at the World Cup last winter.

Liverpool are known to be big admirers of the 19-year-old and they are gearing up to sign two or three midfielders this summer.

The Premier League club’s budget is not as significant as some of their rivals. So when Bellingham’s price skyrocketed to £130m, Liverpool decided to pull out of the race to sign the England international.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will instead look to use their budget to sign several players with Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Chelsea’s Mason Mount among their targets.

This has left Real Madrid leading the race to sign Bellingham and it was revealed earlier this week that his move to the Spanish giants is ‘about to be finalised’.

The Mirror are now reporting that Real Madrid’s ‘vow’ and ‘selling point’ to Bellingham has ‘centred around him filling the void that will eventually be left by Luka Modric’.

The Croatia international is out of contract in the summer and the report claims he has a ‘lucrative offer on the table from Saudi Arabia and could move on, which would leave his No.10 shirt and a major hole vacant’.

Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat was understood to be a ‘key’ figure in negotiations with Bellingham’s father – Mark – as they have ‘remained in regular communication’ in recent months.

The report claims Bellingham ‘stands to inherit the £18m basic gross salary that is currently paid to Modric’. They add.

‘Dortmund are also prepared to let Madrid pay their £130million deal in instalments, which will ease the financial burden on the Spanish giants.

‘Their nine-figure sum, including add-ons, can be paid over the length of his six-year deal with the Spanish side respectful of Bellingham’s role in Dortmund’s title push.’

Speaking last month, Rio Ferdinand encouraged Bellingham to “go to Real Madrid”.

“Liverpool have ruled themselves out now, (but) I think if they said they would have liked him, there was still a chance he may have gone to Liverpool,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“Just because he believes in himself and would back…
