May 4, 2023 – Canadian Premier League (CPL)Atletico Ottawa News Release

Atlético Ottawa is set to celebrate Mother’s Day a little early this year, debuting the new third jersey created in partnership with Shelter Movers Ottawa this Saturday as Head Coach Carlos González’s side faces Pacific FC at TD Place (KO 7 pm ET, Live on OneSoccer).

Here’s everything you need to know before Saturday’s ‘Mother’s Day’ match at TD Place.

Atlético Ottawa remains in the hunt for the club’s first win of the season in the Canadian Premier League (0W-2D-1L).

Nine (9) new players have already featured for Ottawa this season as chemistry continues to improve across the pitch.

Atleti was statistically, and according to González, the better side in its latest home game despite falling to a narrow defeat against York United.

Jean-Aniel Assi, Deigo Espejo, Gianni dos Santos and Malcolm Shaw all came close to finding the back of the net as Ottawa outshot their opponents 11-7.

There were six matches between Atlético Ottawa and Pacific FC during the 2022 season, including a two-legged playoff semi-final that culminated in front of 8,000+ fans at TD Place (2W-2D-2L).

Forwards Malcolm Shaw and Zach Verhoven, who came off the bench to act as catalysts for the improved performance against York United last weekend, have four (4) and two (2) goals in this fixture respectively.

Verhoven joined Atlético Ottawa from Pacific FC ahead of the 2021 CPL season.

Head Coach James Merriman’s side started the season with three consecutive home matches (1W-1D-1L).

Pacific FC began with a victory over expansion side Vancouver FC in what was the inaugural British Columbia all-CPL derby.

This was followed by a draw against Cavalry FC and a defeat to Forge FC last weekend.

This weekend’s game is in support of Shelter Movers Ottawa, a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse.

Atlético Ottawa will be wearing its recently launched third jersey for the first time, featuring actual drawings made by children who spent time in Ottawa-region shelters.

A portion of the funds from each jersey sale will go directly to Shelter Movers Ottawa.

Record head-to-head (all time): 3W-3D-4L; 10 goals scored, 11 goals conceded
