Castrol Save of the Month: April 2023 nominees

The Premier League’s finest goalkeepers were once again at their brilliant best during a busy April of football.

Throughout the month, the men between the sticks made wonderful save, after wonderful save, after wonderful save.

Here’s the six saves that have made the April Castrol Save of the Month shortlist:

The Spanish goalkeeper has been back to his very best during the 2022/23 season, and he pulled off yet another fantastic save in April to prove that.

De Gea’s quick reflexes at St. James’ Park denied Joelinton what looked like a certain goal after he’d won a header just three yards out.

Fabianski proved to be the hero for West Ham in a win which saw the Hammers move out of the relegation zone.

With his side 1-0 up, the Polish shot stopper dove down to his left to tip a well-placed Romain Perraud effort just wide of the foot of the post.

Leicester City’s new first-choice goalkeeper hasn’t put a foot wrong in recent weeks, and that run of fine form started in early April when he put his foot in exactly the right place to save a Dominic Solanke strike.

The English striker was denied by the outstretched foot of Iversen after he’d dug a shot out from the edge of the six-yard box.

The March Castrol Save of the Month winner impressed once again in April, making a number of stunning saves.

The pick of the bunch was undoubtedly the one to deny Mohamed Salah a trademark goal at Anfield, diving to his right to tip a deflected curling effort from the Egyptian around the post.

Another former winner of the Castrol Save of the Month, Kepa pulled off a wonderful stop to deny young gun Evan Ferguson a goal at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish goalkeeper quickly parried a power header from the Republic of Ireland international over the crossbar.

Not many goalkeepers have been able to save Erling Haaland shots on goal this season, but Bernd Leno pulled off the feat at the end of April.

Leno was able to dive down to the foot of his right post to tip a venomous Haaland effort clear of danger.
