Alexis Mac Allister is ‘high on the list of targets’ at Liverpool according to an in-the-know journalist as Fabrizio Romano claims the World Cup winner’s family are set to meet Jurgen Klopp.
Mac Allister is widely expected to leave Brighton this summer with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all linked with the 24-year-old, who will reportedly be available for around £70m.
Klopp is desperate to add midfield recruits in the summer and having backed away from talks over a move for Jude Bellingham, Mac Allister is among their top targets, according to respected journalist Paul Joyce.
He wrote in his Times column on the upcoming hip surgery for Thiago Alcantara: ‘Liverpool are preparing to bolster their midfield in the summer with key signings, and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister is high on the list of targets.’
And transfer expert Romano claims Mac Allister’s family are set to meet with Liverpool and Klopp about the project at Anfield.
He said on his Here We Go Podcast: “With Alexis Mac Allister, they are there. They will speak to the player’s side, when I mention the player’s side in this case it is his family.
“His family are going to speak to Liverpool about the project, get the ideas of Jurgen Klopp about what they want to do. My expectation is that Mac Allister will leave Brighton 100 per cent in the summer.”
Last week, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook explained why Mac Allister, of all Brighton’s highlight sought after stars, is thought to be “most vulnerable” to a transfer.
Crook told GiveMeSport: “I think Mac Allister looks the most vulnerable just because his dad’s been quite vocal about the fact that he expects him to leave. There’s interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.
“Caicedo’s signed a new contract, so I think it would take a huge bid to get him away. I think they’re trying to get Mitoma tied to a new deal. So, if they lose anybody, it probably would be Mac Allister.
“But again, he only signed a new deal just before the World Cup. So that’s big money for him as well.”
