Former Chelsea man says ’embarrassing’ player should be ‘banned from the training ground’ after Arsenal performance

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s ’embarrassing’ performance against Arsenal on Tuesday has left former Chelsea player Craig Burley absolutely furious.

The Blues were defeated 3-1 by their bitter rivals at the Emirates in a performance which showed how far apart the two London clubs are.

Martin Odegaard picked up an impressive brace before Gabriel Jesus made it 3-0 before half-time. Noni Madueke managed to score in the second half but could do nothing to prevent another defeat for Chelsea.

It was Frank Lampard’s sixth consecutive loss since being appointed as Chelsea manager – the first to do so in the club’s 120-year history.

This leaves the Blues in 12th place in the Premier League table, with them on track for their worst season since 1994.

However, Burley vented his frustrations towards Aubameyang following their defeat to Arsenal, who, of course, spent four years at the Emirates.

Incredibly, Aubemeyang managed to touch the ball just nine times in the game, and four of them were kick-offs. Now, Burley says the striker shouldn’t even be allowed into the club’s training ground.

“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should not wear a Chelsea shirt again, he should not even be allowed to the training ground,” Burley said.

“It wasn’t [about a lack of] service — he walked around for 45 minutes. It’s embarrassing.

“Quite frankly, if I’m on the bench and I’m not playing because of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, what is that telling me?

“I’m thinking about a different sport. He doesn’t care, he’s a liability. It’s embarrassing.”

Aubameyang was substituted at half-time against his former club, where he scored 92 goals in 163 appearances between 2018 and 2022.

However, his form at Chelsea has been nothing short of shocking. This season, he has played 15 Premier League games, scoring just three goals in the process.

In fact, Graham Potter actually left Aubameyang out of his Champions League squad in February – showing how little the sacked Chelsea boss thought of him.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing the 33-year-old on a cut price deal this summer, so he probably won’t be with the Blues much longer, anyway.

Although, based off his performance on Tuesday, frankly, it would be staggering to see him leading the line for the Spanish giants next season.

Now, Lampard and co’s focus turns to their five remaining matches, which come against Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Manchester United and…
