NOTES

Whitecaps FC are now unbeaten in their last seven MLS matches, the club’s longest such streak since a club-record 10-match unbeaten run during the 2021 season.

With tonight’s clean sheet, Whitecaps FC extend their shutout streak in MLS to 410 minutes, making it the longest streak in the league this season.

Whitecaps FC have not conceded a goal at BC Place in MLS action in 355 minutes.

Whitecaps FC were in control for the majority of the match, but Colorado did have an early opportunity in the 17th minute as Keegan Rosenberry had a shot on target parried away by Yohei Takaoka. Colorado midfielder Max followed up with an attempt, which was blocked by defender Tristan Blackmon.

Moments later, ‘Caps forward Brian White sprung himself into the final third, but his strong shot on target was kept away by goalkeeper William Yarbrough’s finger tips in the 18th minute.

The ‘Caps continued to push. Fullbacks Javain Brown and Luís Martins both got forward for chances, with Martins having a venomous strike tipped over the net by Yarbrough in the 67th minute.

Despite the ‘Caps dominance, Colorado nearly took the lead late in the match when Jonathan Lewis sprung into the box and earned a penalty kick in the 78th minute. With the cruelty of a goal against looming, Takaoka brought the home crowd to their feet with a huge stop on Diego Rubio’s attempt.

The home side looked to find a late winner, including a very late shot from Ryan Raposo that deflected just on top of the net. The final whistle blew, seeing the ‘Caps extend their shutout streak to four matches, and three matches without a goal conceded at home.

The Blue & White continue their home stand as they host Minnesota United FC this upcoming Saturday, May 6, with kickoff set to be at 7:30 p.m. PT. For tickets, visit whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
