STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC defender Preston Kilwien and midfielder Matheus Cassini were named to USL League One’s Team of the Week for Week 6 of the 2023 regular season.
Cassini was crucial to Tormenta FC’s first-ever victory against One Knoxville SC on Friday night. Cassini was able to score his first goal of the season and assisted Jackson Khoury’s third goal of the season. Cassini’s goal ranked number five in SportsCenter’s edition of the Top 10 on April 21.
Kilwien is also honored for the first time in League One’s Team of the Week. In his 100th professional appearance, Kilwien was able to record his first career assist and help the team keep a clean sheet. Kilwien finished the match with five clearances and two interceptions.
South Georgia is poised to make a strong push for the championship title in the upcoming season. Fans can secure their seats at the new Tormenta Stadium ahead of 2023, with Season Tickets now available for purchase.
